Q. Hi Kanyana, how has the summer been for you?
A. In a word, busy! There’s been lots going on behind the scenes at FISK over the last couple of months. We did manage to spend some time in Thailand though, visiting family and dining at some excellent restaurants. I’ve come back inspired with new ideas for FISK.
Q. I think there’s been some major developments since we last met?
A. Yes, I’m thrilled to announce that we’re opening a second restaurant in Harrogate, in the lovely Montpellier Quarter. Fans of our other restaurants will be pleased to know that FISK Signature will feature some of the most popular FISK dishes and I’m currently working on some new ideas. It will reflect the style of FISK Prestbury and Harrogate, whilst having a more ‘urban’ feel. With renovations now underway, we are taking reservations from the second week in November.
Q. We can’t wait to hear more as work progresses. Can you tell us a bit about what else you’ve been working on?
A. Yes, in a really exciting development we’re partnering with LVMH, the French luxury goods group. This is hugely significant as we’ll be bringing their high-quality champagnes, wines and spirits – including Dom Pérignon champagne, Belvedere vodka and Hennessy cognac – to the FISK restaurants.
As part of our partnership we’ll be working together on another series of our popular Wine Club Dinners later in the year and I’ll be able to share more news about the dinners soon. We’ll also be introducing a new menu, showcasing our range of champagne, spirits and wine.
Q. What an amazing partnership. I’m sure your customers in Prestbury and Harrogate will be excited to sample the new range! What else has been keeping you busy over the summer?
A. Last time we met I think I was working on my own website to highlight my private catering events. I’m pleased to say that the website is now live at www.kanyanawilliams.com. As well as catering for private events and dinner parties I can be booked to work as a guest chef at restaurants and private members’ clubs. I’ve worked with a number of clients recently at functions ranging from corporate events to birthday parties and I’m looking forward to catering at more occasions in the coming months.
Since we last spoke we have also partnered with Wynyates Gin to stock their range of three gins in both our FISK restaurants. Diners have been overwhelmingly positive about the taste of the London Dry, rhubarb and chocolate flavours and they have been a welcome addition to our range of gin-inspired cocktails.
Q. They sound delicious. I’m sure visitors to the restaurants will be keen to sample the different flavours.
A. Actually, they’ll have a great opportunity to sample some of our new gins as well as other carefully-curated gins at our series of Gin Dinners. The first one took place at FISK Prestbury on 3rd October and was really well received whilst the Harrogate event is happening on 10th October. The evenings will include a three-course dinner with paired gins. As well as Wynyates’ rhubarb and chocolate gins, guests will sample Sir Robin of Locksley Gin, produced in a renovated former cutlery workshop in Sheffield. From slightly further afield, we’re introducing the Belfast-based Echlinville Irish Pot Still Gin. Recognised by the Great Taste Awards, the gin will be a fantastic accompaniment to either our Monkfish Massaman Curry or the Fillet of Beef Massaman Curry.
Q. What a great night out for gin aficionados!
A. Yes, and now that we’ve removed the champagne bar from FISK Prestbury we’re able to offer more seating. We can now seat 32 diners in the restaurant so more people will be able to enjoy our Gin Dinner!
Q. Before we go, is there any more restaurant news you’d like to share?
A. Yes, we’re delighted to be working with Simply Oysters, the UK’s number one online retailer of oysters. They’re supplying us with four varieties of oysters and the feedback had been really encouraging.
