It’s been another eventful year for FISK encompassing high-profile partnerships, new restaurant openings, award nominations and new product launches.
Undoubtedly the most high-profile of our collaborations this year has been with luxury goods conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH). In September we signed a two year contract with the brand to serve Veuve Clicquot as our house Champagne and prestigious drinks brands including Dom Pérignon Champagne, Belvedere vodka and Hennessy cognac are now served at FISK. As well as featuring Veuve Clicquot in our cocktails it is also used in our dishes; oysters from our à la carte menu are now served with a Veuve Clicquot and caviar sauce.
We have also partnered with Wynyates Gin, an exciting newcomer to the gin scene, to serve their range of gins – London Dry, rhubarb and chocolate – at all FISK restaurants. Coffee aficionados will appreciate a cup of Williams Coffee after their meal; we teamed up with the brand earlier this year to offer their rich, full-bodied blend of Arabica coffee beans.
In the last quarter of 2018 our latest venture, FISK Signature, opened its doors. Situated in a charming cobbled lane in Harrogate’s quaint Montpellier Quarter, it marks our second restaurant opening in Harrogate. With business brisk at our Cold Bath Road restaurant, FISK Signature features many of the signature dishes much loved at the existing Prestbury and Harrogate restaurants and caters for town centre diners. Well-attended launch parties were held over two consecutive evenings in November with guests enjoying Veuve Clicquot Champagne and canapés prepared by FISK Chef Patron, Kanyana Williams. FISK Signature – as well as FISK Prestbury and FISK Harrogate – is now offering a two or three-course Christmas Menu to guests throughout the festive period.
2018 saw FISK introduce its own product range with the launch of the first two sauces in its ‘By Kanyana’ brand. The sauces – Sweet Chilli Sauce and Spicy Sauce – were created by Kanyana following numerous requests from customers about the sauces used in her FISK recipes. Both sauces are available to buy in FISK restaurants as well as from the FISK website’s online shop.
In Spring we launched the first of our FISK Wine Club Dinners with events held at both our Prestbury and Harrogate restaurants in which guests enjoyed a three-course dinner with paired wines. Each course was introduced by Parisian wine expert, Patrice Lapitti-Mesme, who was on hand to answer questions on a broad range of wine-related topics. The events proved such a success that we ran further events throughout the year, culminating in festive dinners at both venues in early December.
Given the popularity of our Wine Club Dinners we introduced a series of FISK Gin Dinners in which our guests enjoyed a range of gins – including a selection from our partner, Wynyates Gin, accompanied by a delicious three-course meal.
Having realised the popularity of our gift vouchers, particularly in the run-up to Christmas, we created ‘FISK Experiences’ this year; a range of six experiences at FISK which can be pre-bought for loved ones to enjoy at their leisure. The dining options on offer range from a three-course lunch for two (£55) to a three-course dinner for two with a flight of Veuve Clicquot Champagne (£190). Feedback from our customers is that they enjoy giving a tangible gift.
Media coverage throughout 2018 was strong on both sides of the Pennines with reviews and coverage appearing in Cheshire Life, The Yorkshire Post, the Macclesfield Express, Northside Magazine and The Leeds Foodie blog. We were delighted that FISK Prestbury was shortlisted in the Cheshire Life ‘Newcomer of the Year’ category as part of the Cheshire Life Food and Drinks Awards 2018. Although we didn’t win on the night we were delighted that the restaurant received such an accolade during its first year of trading. We were equally thrilled to receive Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence 2018 in the summer. The accolade is awarded to businesses which have received consistently high reviews over the preceding year on the Trip Advisor website and reflects the popularity of the FISK restaurants with our customers.
What’s next for FISK? We’ve got lots to look forward to in 2019 and plans are afoot for a new opening in the coming months. Watch this space! Until then we’d like to thank all our staff, suppliers and loyal customers for their support and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
